Moving in?

Hello, dear friends,
On Tuesdays, I usually post over at The Happy Turtle, where I run a feature called "Love Domino Style". Since I am thinking of somehow merging the two blogs, I thought I'd post today's post here at The Green Greek, to give you a taste of what's going on over there.

As you may know, the Conde-Nast title has gone out of business. When I read about it, what I thought I'd do, since I had been collecting issues of the Greek edition of Domino, was to publish pictures from the magazine to ease the separation angst from those who were lamenting its loss.

Truth is, the Greek edition has been off print for over a year, and we never got the American one over here, so I wasn't that heartbroken. (But I am upset with Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion going out of print. And, I have yet to receive a Martha Stewart Living title that was supposed to cover for the remainder of my subscription!).

Domino's style has been very new, and created a school of decoration that spread like bush fire on the web. But its fresh and eclectic style didn't stick with the mainstream reader's sense of aesthetics, so both Domino and the other overseas transfer, Real Simple, had to cease publication quite early.

So, featured below is the home of one of my favorite Greek Designers, Vassili Zoulias.

Vassili Zoulias, a 1980s stylist and fashion editor turned fashion designer, creates shoes and handbags, which form the backbone of his collection, to which he has added over the years sophisticated dresses and coats, sold from Old Athens shop, in the fashionable Kolonaki district of Athens.

Here he is outside his shop.

At home, a 110m2 apartment overlooking the Athenian Riviera, the atmosphere is one of classic elegance with a fresh twist, sprinkled with childhood nostalgia.

Visual prompts and perfectly styled bric-a-brac.

As he readily admits, his late mother (pictured below right) and the glamorous style of Athens in the 1950s and 60s, are for him the main source of inspiration.
Soft pastels, grey, pistachio, yellow and pink, color the tapestry of the designer's airy and refined universe at home.

I hope you enjoyed the tour!
