No Challenge, No Change.
If you don't give yourself a challenge, there can be no change,
and without change, there is no growth.
and without change, there is no growth.
1. What do I want the purpose of my room or area to be?
This is currently an unused area off the den. It used to be the breakfast room, but since we rarely have the time for a sited family breakfast, it has slowly been transformed into a damping ground. I would like it to become my space, actually. It is not secluded in any way, but it could be turned into an office. I'd like to be able to put some of my books and equipment there, and use the table which is fairly long, for projects from work to puzzles.
2. What do I need in or near the room to serve that purpose?
There isn't much space for any extra furniture, actually, but I could do with a some box files for my clippings and fabric samples, and a cabinet for under the table.
3. What can I remove from the room?
Everything, really, apart from the furniture and the ironing board (I do the ironing while the family watches TV. Thus I can be close to them and get some work done!)
4. What problems do I see with the room?
I need to find a home for the items already living in that part of the house.I must also make my wish for a semi-private space respected and honored.
5. What organizational tools might solve those problems?
Any ideas?
6. What habits need to change to solve the organizational problems?
Everything must go to its place straightaway.
7. What kind of a budget do I have to create the organized room of my dreams?
I wouldn't want to spend more than $100.
8. What kind of a timeline is necessary to organize the room?
One week end to clean the table and the console, purge and put stuff in boxes. One weekend to find a home for the books, china and unidentified items that lie around. Two weekday afternoons to move in!
9. What is my plan of action?
I shall be starting Sat.21/4.

Finally ask yourself:
10. Who can I ask to help me with this?
C can fetch me some boxes and help me move the cat equipment to the garage or I'd rather throw the lot away, or even better donate it, because it reminds me of the tragic death of our cats. Besides, this is the reason why I do not use that balcony. And our friend G can fetch me some boxes and a filing system from Ikea.If you have gone through a similar transformation, or if you feel like offering your wisdom, you are most welcome to do so. Thank you!
