This and That...

It's been HOT here 40C all morning in the past few days, and the temperatures will be on the rise till the middle of next week.
In the evening I open the doors and close them tight in the morning to keep the heat outside. Not very much help, but still better than having the sun coming in.
C usually does not complain about and does not wear sunblock when he drives, but he told me last night that he wants me to put a sunscreen in the car for his arm that he keeps keeping outside his window.
Fortunately the air condition preserves our sanity at work. Next week I am going to put my first advertisement in a local glossy. I am slightly nervous about it, but I am trying to push myself out of my comfort zone.
I am rather sleepy, actually, as I don't get to sleep before the early hours of the morning, I have to get up at 7 a.m. and then indulge myself in freshly baked pastries on the way to the shop. Wrong, wrong , wrong, this is the time to stick to fruit, but apricots and grapes are not out yet, and this was not a good year for cherries. So, I'll have to make do with refrigirated apples.

Anyway, today, after we close the shop for the weekend, we are heading West to an island called Lefkas. Onassis' little island of Scorpios is nearby, so it has had its past share of glory. Then right next to it there is Cephalonia where the Korelli film was shot some years ago. I'd love to go on a cruise along the coast. There have been some archaeological finds recently, suggesting that what is today Cephalonia was Homer's Ithaca (and not the island that is now called Ithaca).
We have been to Lefkas before but we do not go there often because it is a long drive, and who wants to drive for hours at midday?
But we thought we'd camp overnight and leave tomorrow afternoon. I will keep you posted and try and get some nice pictures for you.

I am t-h-r-i-l-l-e-d, because I got an award (wow, me?!). Thank you so much Annie. I cannot tell you what an encouragement this is, your visiting me and all. I am like a child jumping up and down!
I promise to nominate my favorite rocking people to pass the torch. I just want this time to think of people I do not visit very often , but do impress me as rocking!

With God's grace I'll post Weekend Reflections and Menu Plan on Monday. Enjoy the weekend!

Weekend Reflection

Health
Still waiting for my exams. Am worried but do not show it.
Family
Loved F and D's school do. I was jumping up and down, encouraging their respective teams.
Not much cooking, no dieting. I am so tired.
Lots of washing and ironing, as it seems the weather is finally finding its way to summer temperatures.
Saturday: 3 earthquakes in the morning. Do not know where the epicenter was. The lights swinged at home, and I felt the desk at work groaning during the third one. On the second one , C and the kids were waiting for me in the car while I went upstairs to get my trench. They said the car moved as if it were starting up on its own.
Sunday evening:C's cousin K visited with her husband and dog. When I see their dog, I think I'd like to have a pet but I know I do not have the patience to train one as she did. So, we'll have to just look and play. Not bad.
Work
We are still unclear about staying or moving. I do not know myself what I want. Pray about it I must...
A couple from NY slept at a hotel in The Netherlands furnished by the mother company, and wrote that they had never slept like that in their lives. They have an on-line mag about sustainable design called. They wrote to ask if the company's beds are available in the US! That is great. Yes sir, we can do more than tzatziki!
Blogging
I am pleased I managed to keep a rhythm to my posting. It helps me keep my own life in focus.
I'd like to visit the people who visited me this week. Planning a redesign. Maybe keep a list of visitors for future visits.
A big Thank you to everyone for stopping by and commenting.
Have a great week ahead.
Judi is our host. Thank you! An excellent idea.

Weekend Reflection #36

Health

I think I hadn't hurt that much not even during childbirth. Two reasons for it.

#1 An ovarian cyst blasting and twisting my left ovary half way. The doctor detected a certain amount of fluid in my tummy and suggested surgery. Strangely enough about a month ago I had read this post by Jennifer Louden and I was prepared in a way. I was sent to do some further testing. What I want to do is check with the Dr who delivered J. I want to have a second opinion. But I cannot see him until after my circle is over. So that will have to wait.

#2 Irritable bowel syndrome. The next Dr said I had that, too, gave me some pills to have before each meal, little bottles of fungi to have half an hour before a meal and a powder to dilute in water every morning and drink up. The downside: no fruits and vegetables, aka goodbye dieting, and no dairy. The good part: I get to eat lots of pasta.
Ultra sounds were generally OK. Everyone said I must lose weight.

Family

The girls had a great time in the end of the year excursion. F and I stayed up until 1.30 a.m. as she was telling me all about it. Thank you God for her love and trust, and please help us be close all along. <
On Saturday we watched Bridge to Terabithia. It was only as and another two families. f and I were tearful at the end, D said it was a pity for the girl to die and that she wouldn't mind if it were for the boy! I think it was a good movie. I was trying hard to concentrate as a thousand thoughts were screaming for my attention. A good family movie, at least I liked it.

Work
A second within a month minor this time, flood took place. We are thinking of taking legal action, but what I think is most urgent is for us to move. It seems an enormous task, but with the owner being so insensitive, I do not think we can afford to stay.

Friends

I am thankful for K and her husband L who took me to the doctors.
I am thankful for the doctors, and pray for their wise judgement.

Blogging

I so much thank you for visiting and praying for me. I have printed your prayers and have them next to my bed. Thank you!!!

And, finally, Sognatrice whom I had tagged for the eating out meme posted about her favorite places to eat in Calabria, Italy. In my opinion, nothing beats a pizzeria with a view!

Have a beautiful week, and Give Thanks.

Weekend Reflection

I was going to write this post anyway. Then I stopped by Annie's place and thought, well, if I am going to write it, they might as well read it. So here is my first ever weekend reflection.

Work
The highlights of the week.
C delivering merchandise with our new van. He went to a customer's seaside house. The family is about to come to Greece for their summer holidays. I couldn't go with him because F had an English class in the afternoon and I do not want her to miss it and be out of touch.
I'll have to go and add the finishing touches some time soon, though, before the family comes. They live in Congo, that's in Africa. Most of my customers come from the funniest places and I love it! C has a friend who went to work over there and he always has the most peculiar adventures to narrate. The kids are literally open mouthed listening to him.
Another customer I am currently working with is an American married to a Greek University professor whom she met while they were doing a PhD in England. Funny how Love spins her web... Her daughter is getting married in August and she asked me to create a scheme for the marital bedroom. Love that!

Home
Took all the woolen stuff out, thinking that come June the days were going to be sunny. There was a light breeze, too, so it looked perfect. It soon began raining again and I had to bring everything in. Living with a split personality weather and a split personality wardrobe. Thank God for both!
Did lots of cooking for the week ahead.

Me
I have been having a strong pain in my belly. Have tried different home made recipes, like chamomile, but it just doesn't go away. I must go and see a doctor. I am scared, to be honest. Don't worry, don't worry...

I am thankful. Yes I am.

Weekend Refection home is at Mommy of Two.
