My mum's greatest desire was to travel. Little did she. I never understood her desire to view new places. I was happy with very little. Not a bad thing. But I didn't have any curiosity. And I hated moving.
Now, approaching the age she had when I was a teenager, I understand. I still hate moving. I am very scared of travelling. I suffer the first two days of every travel, but this is nothing compared to how much I miss the places I have visited afterwards.
As I see the thousands that flood Greek beaches every summer, I cannot help but think: they are SO brave, crossing half Europe on car to take a plunge. Travelling all the way from the States or Japan to view the Parthenon. What on earth gets them?
Well, now I got it. Assuming I shall live to the ripe old age of 76, the national average for women, I have lived more than half my life, dear friends. And the most youthful, beautiful, and strong, for that matter.
There're things I want to do like doing proper exercise, learning to play a musical instrument, meeting and hugging my long time pen friend in France, and yes, travel!
Here are a few of the places I want to be:
Paris
San Francisco
New York
London
Koch Samui
The Caribbean
Kripalu yoga Center, Massachusetts
India
Japan
Kenya
Meaningful travels
Argentina (my hubby's favorite place on earth)
Milwaukee, USA (that my maternal ancestors called home)
Tunisia (with my best friend and future venture partner)
Alexandria, Egypt and the Holy Land (with my husband's and mine favorite aunt and her archaeologist husband)
Avignon, France (to meet my childhood pen friend)
London and the Southeast (to show my kids where I lived and studied before landing myself to Greece).
Verona and the Adidge (where I did my field work for my degree in Archaeology).
